Entire industries are impacted by this devastating virus known as COVID-19. Unemployment rates are hitting numbers not seen since the great depression in this country. Jobs are lost, large and small businesses have closed permanently, etc. etc. etc.

Litterally everyone, and everything, has been negatively impacted to some degree by this PANDEMIC.

YET … TRADES UNITED CONTINUES TO GROW AND THRIVE IN THIS INCREDIBLY DIFFICULT TIME!!!

Building and maintaining our infrastructure is paramount at a time like this.

As schools reopen … they must do so in a manner that is safe for our children. Roads need to be maintained for those traveling back to work. Our parks need fostering and nurturing to create healthy air to breathe. Buildings need to be safe and accessible for those returning to work. Older structures must be modified to accommodate our handicapped population … and the list goes on and on and on.

In short … WE MUST CONTINUE LIVING … BUT SAFE!

A sincere thank you to all the CONSTRUCTION WORKERS who make this all possible.

Their IMPACT has always been GREAT …

Their IMPACT during this GLOBAL PANDEMIC has been SPECTACULAR!

Be safe everyone … BECAUSE ALL LIVES MATTER!!!

A sincere thank you to Steve Varela (Director of Procurement) and Juan Castro (Head of Operations) for their unwavering commitment to Trades United!

Trades United Combating the Coronavirus https://tradesunited.com/trades-united-combating-the-coronavirus/ Sat, 04 Apr 2020 19:35:45 +0000 https://tradesunited.com/?p=4441

Trades United was created for the betterment of local government and all the people who reside in this great nation.

Currently, we are facing a “global pandemic” in the form of the CORONAVIRUS. A Virus so complex and deadly that the entire United States is on some form of “lockdown” to prevent the spread of this disease.

The CDC has recommended “social distancing,” “washing your hands,” “sanitizing” objects that have been touched by others, among other precautionary measures.

To that end, Trades United is proud to announce and welcome the newest “member” of our unique business model … TU-CLEAN JANITORIAL SERVICES (hereinafter “TU-CLEAN”). TU-CLEAN specializes in killing ALL bacterial particles that host the coronavirus and maintaining that level of cleanliness throughout each of our janitorial contracts.

Trades United and TU-CLEAN has also joined forces with CASTRO CANVAS DESIGNS to make and distribute protective masks to our local communities for further protection.

PROTECTING THE SAFETY OF THE PEOPLE WHO RESIDE IN OUR LOCAL COMMUNITIES IS PARAMOUNT TO OUR MISSION.

In just a few short months, TU-CLEAN has picked up several COMMERCIAL CLEANING CONTRACTS and is working tirelessly to prevent the spread of the CORONAVIRUS.

Please be safe and if you have any questions please call our office at 805-676-1200.

A special thank you to Juan Castro and the fine people at Castro Canvas Designs for making the protective masks.

Signed,

Trades United Management Team

TRADES UNITED IS PROUD TO HONOR OUR DIRECTOR OF PROCUREMENT AND VENDOR SERVICES …

STEVE VARELA

FOR HIS OUTSTANDING CONTRIBUTIONS IN THE DEVELOPMENT AND IMPLEMENTATION OF THE CORNER STONE OF OUR UNIQUE MODEL.

A MODEL DESIGNED SPECIFICALLY FOR THE BETTERMENT OF GOVERNMENT, AMERICA AND ALL OF YOU.

Steve has been instrumental in establishing “Procurement Relationships” for our “Vendor Services” with the following municipalities:

  1. County of Ventura;
  2. City of Oxnard
  3. Oxnard Union High School District;
  4. Ocean View School District;

  11. Simi Valley Unified School District
  12. City of Ventura;
  13. City of Port Hueneme.
  14. City of Camarillo;
  15. Goldcoast Transit
  16. Channel Islands Harbor District (Fisherman’s Wharf).

and the list is growing every day.

Even more remarkable is that our Procurement and Vendor Program was put together in just a few short months!!!!

In that time Steve has been instrumental in bringing in over a MILLION DOLLARS worth of PUBLIC WORKS PROJECTS. This makes STEVE a NATIONAL LEADER in Procurement and Vendor services.

So Who Is Steve Varela and what is his story?

If the Varela name sounds familiar … IT SHOULD. There are Varela’s EVERYWHERE in Ventura County (and throughout California) … and YES, they are ALL RELATED.

Steve is a life long Ventura County resident. He was born and raised in the city of Oxnard. He attended Santa Clara Elementary school and Santa Clara High School graduating in 1985.

While at Santa Clara High School, Steve played basketball for the legendary Coach C, where he went on to win a CIF Southern Section Championship. From there, Steve went on to attend Loyola Marymount University in Los Angeles where he was a member of their “CREW” rowing team. While at Loyola, Steve had the privilege of befriending the late great HANK GATHERS and former NBA player Bo Kimble. Those relationships have had a long and lasting positive effect on Steve.

After graduating from Loyola Marymount, Steve came home to Oxnard to start a new chapter in his life.

Steve immersed himself in the Oxnard community. He began coaching basketball and football at Santa Clara High School where he won several more championships. He then moved over to St. Bonaventure High School where he coached in their football program during the most successful years under Coach T. As an offensive coordinator of some of the finest talent to ever come through Ventura County, Steve was able to establish and cultivate relationships with some of COLLEGE FOOTBALL’S BIGGEST NAMES. From the great Pete Carroll at USC, to Ed Orgeron (current head coach at LSU), Lane Kiffin, Steve Sarkesian, Marcus Tuiaosospo, Tee Martin, and current USC coach Todd Helton … to name a few. Steve has had a hand in placing over a dozen athletes in Division 1 college football programs throughout the country.

Prior to being recruited by Trades United, Steve worked as an insurance broker in Oxnard for over 15 years. After that, he entered the “Farm Labor” industry where he was very successful. Trades United was VERY LUCKY to get such a GREAT and VALUABLE ASSET to our family.

Steve is happily married to the former Michelle Towers (daughter of legendary surfboard manufacturer and Port Hueneme ICON Butch Towers). Together they have two beautiful children, Stevie Varela (freshman in college) and Olivia Varela (Oxnard High School Dance Team). Steve also has an older daughter he is extremely proud of, Brice Montanez, who lives in Tennessee with her husband and children. That makes Steve … a GRANDPA!!!

In Steve’s spare time when he is not WAXING EVERYONE IN DARTS … you will find him “TALKING” … to ANYONE, ANYWHERE and at ANYTIME about his FAVORITE COLLEGE FOOTBALL TEAM … USC!

Trades United will be sending Steve and his wife on a three day Ensenada Cruise as a thank you for your tireless efforts.

Cheers Steve … Job well done!!!

A similar shout out goes to Steve Varela and Danny Gastelum of TRADES UNITED. COUNTY OF VENTURA;

CITY OF OXNARD;

CHANNEL ISLANDS HARBOR COMMISSION;
